Terms & Conditions
These terms cover using Topo-grapher, subscribing to Pro or Company, and what happens if something isn't right — including refunds. If you're here about a specific order, skip to Refunds & Cancellation or just email aki@topo-grapher.com directly; a real person reads and answers every message.

1. The service
Topo-grapher converts publicly available government elevation data into terrain files (CSV, IFC, DXF, XYZ) for use in Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, ArchiCAD and similar software. It's provided by Aki, a solo founder, and by using the site or creating an account you agree to these terms.
2. Accounts
- The free tier needs no account. Creating an account (required for Pro and Company) means giving an accurate email address you control.
- You're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at aki@topo-grapher.com if you think it's been compromised.
- Company plan admins are responsible for the seats they add and for that data being visible to their team.
3. Plans, billing & auto-renewal
| Plan | Price | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Free | £0 | — |
| Pro | £39.99/month | Monthly, auto-renews until cancelled |
| Company | £29.99/seat/month (2+ seats) | Monthly, auto-renews, prorated for seat changes |
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month at the then-current price for your plan until you cancel.
- If we change prices for existing subscribers, we'll email you at least 30 days beforehand. Continuing past that date means you accept the new price; cancelling before it takes effect avoids it entirely.
- Receipts are sent automatically by Stripe after each charge. For invoicing needs beyond that, email aki@topo-grapher.com.
4. Refunds & cancellation
Cancel anytime
You can cancel your subscription at any point from your account settings, or by emailing aki@topo-grapher.com. Cancelling stops future billing — you keep Pro/Company access until the end of the period you've already paid for, then it drops to Free.
Standard purchases — no refund for change of mind
Beyond the statutory rights below, we don't offer refunds for a subscription period you've already had access to, simply changing your mind, or not getting around to using it. Cancelling prevents the next charge; it doesn't refund the current one.
Your 14-day cancellation right (UK / EU / EEA customers)
If you're a consumer in the UK, EU, or EEA, the law gives you 14 days from purchase to cancel a digital subscription for a full refund — unless you've asked for immediate access and acknowledged that doing so ends that right once you start using the paid features. Clicking "Get Pro" and completing checkout counts as that request and acknowledgement. In practice: if you use Pro's paid features (larger sites, finer spacing, LiDAR, etc.) within the 14 days, that right lapses for the period you used; if you haven't used them yet, email us within the 14 days and we'll refund it in full, no argument.
When we'll refund anyway: data coverage gaps
This is also the place to email for any other case that doesn't fit neatly into the rules above — a billing mistake, a duplicate charge, a technical fault that stopped you using what you paid for. We handle these case by case; there's no ticket system, just a real reply from Aki.
What isn't covered
- Change of mind after the 14-day window, or after you've made active use of paid features.
- Any one-off add-on purchase (e.g. a large-site add-on) already used to generate a result.
- Access lost because your account was closed for violating section 6 (Acceptable use).
5. Data accuracy — please read this one
Topo-grapher sources elevation data from public government datasets, which vary in resolution and age by country and region — from 0.4m LiDAR in some areas down to 30m global fallback data elsewhere (full breakdown on the data coverage page). We do the best conversion we can with what's publicly available, but:
- This is not a substitute for a licensed land survey. It's a starting point for design, not a certified as-built record.
- Government source data can be outdated, especially where terrain has since been altered (regrading, new roads, construction).
- You're responsible for having a qualified professional verify the data against your site before relying on it for construction, drainage, grading, or any decision where being wrong has real cost or safety consequences.
6. Acceptable use
Don't: scrape or automate bulk downloads outside normal use of the tool, resell or redistribute the raw elevation data as a competing dataset, attempt to break the free-tier limits through multiple accounts or automation, or use the service for anything unlawful. We can suspend or close accounts that do this.
7. Your data, our data
Files you generate are yours to use in your projects without restriction. The underlying government elevation data remains subject to its original source licence (typically open/public-sector data — see the coverage page for sources). Topo-grapher's software, branding, and website content are ours.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
Topo-grapher is provided "as is." We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the elevation data is accurate, current, or fit for any particular project. Use it as a tool that speeds up your workflow, verified against real survey data before anything gets built.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Topo-grapher and Aki aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of the service or the data it produces — including design, construction, or drainage decisions made on the strength of it. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as liability for fraud.
10. Termination
You can stop using Topo-grapher and cancel your subscription at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate section 6, or discontinue the free tier or specific features with reasonable notice — paid subscribers keep what they've paid for through the end of their current billing period regardless.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Icelandic courts. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away any protection you're entitled to under the mandatory law of your own country of residence.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes affecting paid plans will be emailed to active subscribers at least 30 days before taking effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
13. Contact
